Video Killed the Radio Star

Well this Easter weekend (Happy Easter all) found me rooting around my bulging addons folder looking for something new to play with, what did I find...Fraps! While having purchased a licence a couple of years ago and updating the software when it becomes available, I'd never actually sat down and attempted to make a short film.

So armed with a cup of coffee and a pack of chocolate digestives I proceeded to compile the next Hollywood blockbuster.

So how easy can it be? Not at all it seems! Firstly don't adjust your TrackIR settings prior to recording, watching your film back is not a lot of fun when it looks like your head is rotating on frictionless castors in the video. Secondly have a plan and in that plan have a timescale, nobody wants to watch a long recording of a simulator flight, less so with the compression of You Tube if that's where you choose to broadcast it from. Finally have a plan...did I mention that already? Yes well it's important!

Having ignored the above I went ahead and created what can only be called (by me) a masterpiece, if Mr Hughes had still been around he'd have tipped his hat in acknowledgment of my fine cinematic debut.

So without further ado, dim the lights take your arm from around your girl/boy, plant it firmly in the popcorn, sit back and enjoy...

Ok, so maybe it wasn't as good as I led you to believe, but what the hell, it was a lot of fun making the film. Now I can place fraps back in the folder from whence it came, happy to know that I gave it a shot and I don't have to bother again for another few years...did I hear somebody in the audience behind me say phew??
